This early large-flowered cultivar has very large spring flowers, some 6-8 inches (15 to 20cm) in diameter; it is exceptionally free-flowering and the plant is covered with nicely shaped rounded flowers. It has a good repeat flowering habit. Its main flowering period is late spring-early summer and it repeats flowers late summer-early autumn. The white spring/early summer flowers are suffused with pale blue giving it a true ‘ice blue’ colour. The autumn flowers are smaller in size and sometimes slightly whiter than pale blue. The sepals are offset by creamy white anthers. It will flower at a low height from the previous season's growth and is therefore particularly suited to container culture. Suggested planting combinations: with evergreen or deciduous shrubs or small trees, with blue flowered ceanothus, with grey or purple foliaged shrubs as cotinus folii purpurius (the purple foliaged smoke bush).
