Mauve-purple flowers only 4cm (1.75in) long, slightly twisted outer tepals, a good colour and the first of all the alpina and macropetala types to flower each year. Raised in Sweden by Jan Lindmark, named by Magnus Johnson and introduced to England in 1983 by the author. The foliage can become untidy, but worth growing for the early flowers.
